Mutinondo is a privately owned hidden gem on the Muchinga Plateau, 30 km west of the Luangwa Valley in northern Zambia. Set within more than 10,000 hectares of miombo woodland,
granite inselbergs and pristine rivers, it offers a rare opportunity to experience a vast, untouched wilderness at your own pace.
In a world where the art of

A Wilderness of Twelve Seasons

The miombo woodland changes month by month: leaves flush blood-red
in September, orchids carpet the plateau in November, mushrooms
erupt after the first storms, rivers swell in April. Every visit offers something special.
Peak Green, Prime Birding
Mutinondo is at its most lush, the miombo woodland erupts in vivid green, and the birdlife peaks with migrants and breeding displays. A paradise for birders and nature lovers alike.
Rivers Full, Waterfalls Roaring
The Musamfushi runs hardest, the dambos drain, and the wild swimming and paddling are at their best. Cool, clear, post-rain light.
Cool, Clear, Cloudless
Crisp mornings, frost on the higher inselbergs some nights, no clouds for weeks. Peak hiking, peak stargazing, the milky way directly overhead.
The Miombo Flush
For roughly two weeks each year, every miombo tree on the plateau bursts new leaf in vivid red, copper and gold before settling into green. Africa's answer to New England in autumn, except in reverse, and almost nobody knows it happens.
First Rains, Wildflowers
The first storms break the day. Within days, terrestrial orchids and dambo flowers carpet the plateau, many of the 1,700 plant species emerge in this short window.
Storms & Solitude
The wet season proper begins. Towering thunderheads, electric sunsets, lush regrowth, and you might be the only guest on the property for days.

Most guests spend three to five nights with us before continuing on
